Understanding NVIS

Written by: | | Category:

The Alpine Fault Net uses NVIS (Near Vertical Incident Skywave) propagation to provide communication.

All HF Radio Charitable Trust volunteers are encouraged to watch the training video below to learn how NVIS works, and importantly, which types of antenna are suitable.

We use amateur radio service frequencies 7115 KHz (primary) and 3605 KHz (secondary) for our Apline Fault Net.

You need an antenna optimised for NVIS to communicate effectively with stations within your region in particular, but also neighbouring regions.
